Greetings | ELA Activities | Engage with ELA
The ECTN Eurolecturer Academy (ELA) presents its third newsletter, updating you on activities and announcements related to the quality and innovation of university teaching and professional development in higher STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). In this newsletter, we announce the ELA activities for 2026.
ELA Activities in 2026
Series of three webinars from February – April 2026
From February to April 2026, we will host three webinars again. The topic for 2026 will be Assessment in Highly Interactive Courses: Sustainable and Reliable Assessment Aligned with the 2030 Education Vision, where traditional end-of-course exams may no longer be necessary. Three speakers will share their experiences from their teaching practices.
More information and registration details (free of charge) in January 2026. You can find information and videos of our webinars from previous years on our website Eurolecturer Academy website – Webinars.
ELA Online workshop, 14 April 2026
We are excited to announce the first online workshop, a new activity of the ECTN Eurolecturer Academy, where participants will be introduced to an interesting new tool and work hands-on with it. Our goal is for participants to work with their course materials, if they wish, and create something that they can implement in their own teaching practice. The first ELA online workshop will focus on AI in assessment and grading.
Date: April 14, 2026, from 9.30 -11.00 (CEST)
Title: Efficient assessment and feedback with Eval
About: Looking to make assessment and feedback less time-consuming? Join this ELA online workshop to explore how Eval can support your existing grading workflow using AI. In this hands-on session, led by Luc Mahieu, you will see how Eval fits into the current way teachers assess student work. Eval helps by identifying the parts of student submissions that are most relevant to the rubric and by preparing draft comments and feedback that you can easily review and adjust, either manually or with AI support. You’re welcome to bring your own assignments to see how Eval can support your assessment practices. More information

“Question-Driven Learning in STEM” Summer School, 19-21 May
The “Question-Driven Learning in STEM” Summer School, part of the ELA “Teaching and Learning in STEM Summer Schools” series, which we organized in 2025 in Krakow, was very successful (report).
We are pleased to announce the second “Question-Driven Learning in STEM” Summer School, to be held on 19-21 May 2026 in Valencia, Spain. This 2.5-day academic event will be organized as a pre-event to the ECTN General Assembly, which will be held at the same location from 21-23 May 2026. This independent summer school is open to all interested participants and provides a unique opportunity for delegates at the ECTN General Assembly to combine both events in a single trip.
This summer school is a non-profit academic event dependent on registration fees. To organize it, we need to know if you are interested in joining. Note that the number of participants is limited to 25. If you wish to join the summer school, please apply now and secure your spot! The process of registration with payment will be organized later, giving you time to arrange funding if necessary.

STEM-CPD Summer School, 21-25 September
We have successfully organized four STEM-CPD Summer Schools in collaboration with local host universities. The participants, now CPD Ambassadors, are doing fantastic and vital work to improve teaching and learning at their institutions. As ambassadors, they also raise awareness about the importance of continuous professional development (CPD) in university STEM education. Learn more about the summer school and the CPD Ambassador initiative in our paper, “Ambassadors of Professional Development in Teaching and Learning in STEM Higher Education.”
Find more information about our previous STEM-CPD Summer Schools here: Previous Summer Schools. You can also watch three presentations from the CPD Ambassadors at the ELA Symposium in Bologna in 2025: Link video.
We are planning to organize the STEM-CPD Summer School again from September 21 to 25, 2026. However, we need your cooperation to make this happen. Would you like to host this exceptional academic event at your university? Please let us know as soon as possible before December 31, 2025 – you can use our STEM-CPD Summer Schools Contact form.
Would you like to join the STEM-CPD Summer School in 2026 as a participant? Please complete the pre-application form now! The registration process, including payment, will be organized later if we receive enough pre-applications.
