Question-Driven Learning Summer School
“Question-Driven Learning in STEM” Summer School
29 June – 1 July, 2025, Kraków, Poland
Today, student-centered learning has become a common goal for many universities and is often integrated into professional development programs for university teaching. Despite this, many lecturers remain hesitant to adopt active learning approaches, such as incorporating questioning techniques, fostering collaborative learning among students or using teaching and learning methods such as POGIL or SCALE-UP. Instead, they frequently revert to traditional lecturing methods, particularly when teaching large classes or working within conventional classroom settings.
To tackle this challenge, the ECTN WG Eurolecurer Academy will organise a 2.5-day Summer School “Question-Driven Learning in STEM”. It is the first summer school in the series on “Teaching and Learning in Higher Education STEM”, that will focus on a specific educational theme in STEM higher education (STEM = Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). This Summer School will equip its participants with the knowledge and skills needed to confidently teach using questioning techniques and to effectively support collaborative learning among students.

The “Question-Driven Learning in STEM” Summer School will be held in Kraków, often celebrated as Poland’s academic capital. Home to the historic Jagiellonian University—one of Europe’s oldest institutions—Kraków has been a center of knowledge and innovation for centuries. It is also where the renowned chemist and physicist Karol Olszewski conducted groundbreaking research, including the first-ever liquefaction of oxygen and nitrogen.
During the summer, Kraków becomes a vibrant cultural hub, offering an unforgettable experience for its visitors.
Join us in Kraków and immerse yourself in a city where academic legacy meets cultural charm!
