“Question-Driven Learning in STEM” Summer School

29 June – 1 July, 2025, Kraków, Poland

Today, student-centred learning is a common vision at many universities, and it is also a part of university teaching professional development programmes. However, in practice, many lecturers still don’t feel comfortable enough using active learning course designs, such as teaching with questioning and supporting collaborative learning among students, and they fall back on traditional lecturing, particularly in large groups of students and in conventional classrooms.
To tackle this deficiency, the ECTN WG Eurolecurer Academy will organise a series of 2.5-day Summer Schools on “Teaching and Learning in Higher Education STEM” around one specific education theme in STEM higher education (STEM = Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). The first summers school in this series will be: “Question-Driven Learning in STEM”. Attending this summer school, participants will gain knowledge and skills needed to get comfortable in teaching through questioning and for supporting collaborative learning among students.

“Question-Driven Learning in STEM” Summer School is an exceptional opportunity for university lecturers and programme directors in STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to develop their teaching skills in an international community. The immersive program of this summer school and discussions in the community of practitioners will empower lectures and programme directors to enhance the quality of their teaching and the curriculum.

“Question-Driven Learning in STEM” Summer School will take place in Kraków, often referred to as Poland’s academic capital. It is home to one of the oldest universities in Europe, the Jagiellonian University, fostering knowledge and innovation for centuries. This historic city is also where Karol Olszewski, a renowned chemist and physicist, conducted groundbreaking research, including the first-ever liquefaction of oxygen and nitrogen.

In summer, Kraków transforms into a vibrant cultural hub, offering an unforgettable experience for visitors.
Join us in Kraków and immerse yourself in a city where academic legacy meets cultural charm.
