STEM-CPD@EUni final conference

Venue: Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana, Večna pot 113, SI-1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia (www.fkkt.uni-lj.si) AND on-line participation (link was sent to registered participants before the event).

There was no registration fee, however, registration was required for any type of attendance (including on-line spectator-only participation). The registration was opened until 29th of May 2023.

The Final conference took place at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana, Večna pot 113, SI-1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia on Friday, 2nd June 2023 (Building X, lecture hall B).

Final conference was opened by a short address at 09:30 delivered by Prof. Dr. Andreja Žgajnar Gotvajn, Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana. Participants (38 of the on-site) of the Final conference had the opportunity to enjoy the following lectures and short oral contributions (12 in total):

Final conference was closed at 17:45 by words of acknowledgement and by taking group photos.

On Saturday, 3rd June 2023 a TPM meeting of the STEM-CPD@EUni Project partners (13 on-site participants) was held in the lecture hall 4.

BOOK OF ABSTRACT

Background

Lecturers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) need to prepare their students to be able to cope with the complex challenges of the changing world. To be able to do this, it is necessary to continuously develop teaching and learning competence in higher education and to improve teaching approaches. The 3-year European Erasmus+ project STEM-CPD@EUni developed a framework and means for sustainable cooperation between lecturers and others interested in this field, the so-called CPD Ambassadors who (wish to) organize continuous professional development (CPD) activities at their universities in order to improve the quality of higher education.

Goals of the Final conference. In this one-day conference the project partners have successfully shared the outcomes and achievements of this international project and discussed with the participants about the further evolution of the professional development in teaching in higher education and the sustainability of the CPD Ambassadors community, even after the STEM-CPD@EUni project will be completed.

Benefits for the participants. Participants have acquired new inspiration by exchanging good practices, thus becoming part of the international STEM-CPD community. This event has enabled fruitful networking and empowered participants (also those that were not exposed to the STEM-CPD@EUni project yet) to devise plans for the future activities and projects based on cooperation and excellence in high education teaching and in the professional development of all involved in it.

Possible ways for active participation. A plethora of possibilities for discussion and exchange of ideas was offered to the participants. Everyone attending was encouraged to present a poster or at least to share their innovative approaches in teaching in higher education or their experiences about organizing professional development activities with other participants. A limited number of posters was selected for a short oral presentation.

The conference was funded by the EU Erasmus+ project.
