This test has been designed to evaluate a level of competence in inorganic chemistry equivalent to that of a person who has completed the core chemistry syllabus at University.

Duration 

You may answer the questions in any order during 60 minutes.

Structure

The test consists of 30 questions covering the topics given below. It starts with 15 questions at the introductory level, followed by 10 questions at the intermediate level and finally 5 questions at the advanced level of difficulty.

  10. Coordination Chemistry 1: oxidation state, coordination number, ligands, chelate effect,
  11. Coordination Chemistry 2: stereochemistry, ligand field theory and related effects (color, mag., ..)
  12. Lewis Acids and Bases
  13. Organo-metallic Chemistry
  14. Chains, Rings and Cages
  15. Bioinorganic Chemistry

Intermediate Level

  1. Atomic structure, bonding, symmetry
  2. Stereochemistry
  3. Main Group Chemistry: H, Groups 1,2,12,13
  4. Main Group Chemistry: Groups 13,14
  5. Main Group Chemistry: Groups 16,17,18
  6. Transition Metal Chemistry
  7. Coordination Chemistry 1
